Make Dreams Come True Breakfast Raises More Than $49,000!

Bothell, WA - Cascadia Community College Foundation has announced that the 2nd Annual Make Dreams Come True Fundraising Breakfast on May 9 raised nearly $50,000. Proceeds will be used to provide scholarships for Cascadia Community College students and support important college programs and services.

“We’re thrilled with the level of support our community has shown in the past two years,” said Linda Hendrickson, Executive Director of the Cascadia Community College Foundation. “This year we were able to provide students with nearly $35,000 in scholarships, grants, and short-term loans largely due to the success of this event. Our top priority is to make higher education more accessible to deserving students in our region.”

More than 150 guests heard Cheryl Scott, Chief Operating Officer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, talk about the work of the Foundation and the challenges of building an infrastructure to support large scale expansion of the organization while sustaining its culture and values. Student speaker Aicha Rhaidy inspired the audience as she described her battle to overcome a fear of math and her dream to become a math teacher to help others turn their fear into passion. KING-5’s Grant Goodeve served as emcee.

Cascadia Community College Foundation’s mission is to support the Cascadia community of lifelong learners by providing scholarships, developing relationships, and connecting resources. Created in 2000, the Foundation has grown from a fledgling 4-member board of directors that raised nearly $25,000 in its first full year of operations to an energetic board of 19 directors with a budget over $135,000 this year.
