Cascadia Launches New Degree in Sustainability
Bothell, WA - Cascadia Community College is offering a new
Environmental Technologies and Sustainable Practices degree this fall.
The program is designed to prepare
students to enter the rapidly expanding fields of sustainability and renewable
energy technology. It is the first
2-year professional technical degree in Washington that is specifically focused
on careers in sustainability.
Students enrolled in the Environmental Technologies and
Sustainable Practices program will have the option to emphasize either business
or technology in their coursework.
Through hands-on training and internships with local companies, students will
gain the experience they need to pursue careers as building technicians,
resource conservation managers, energy efficiency managers and more. Working
with solar panels on campus is just one example of the types of real world
experiences that will be part of the program.
"We designed this degree to respond to the growing need
across our region for professionals in the sustainability sector.
This degree will give our students all the skills they need to prosper in
one of many rapidly emerging fields," said Dean for Student Learning Dr. Sharon
Buck.
People interested in learning more about the program or how
to enroll for fall classes are encouraged to attend the information session in
room CC1-230 at Cascadia on Tuesday, September 9 at 5:30 PM.
