Underage Admissions

Underage students who are 16 or 17 years old who are not Running Start students are eligible to enroll in Cascadia classes if they meet the minimum requirements.  To qualify for admissions, students must complete the steps below:

Priority Application Deadline for 2009
Winter Quarter - November 26
Spring Quarter - March 3
Summer Quarter - May 8
Fall Quarter - June 19

FINAL Application Deadline for 2009
Winter Quarter - December 29
Spring Quarter - March 27
Summer Quarter - June 12
Fall Quarter - September 18

Read each of the "Required Steps" for complete details.

Required Steps:

  1. Complete Cascadia’s Application for Admission, which may be picked up in person at the New Student Welcome Center or apply online .
  2. Pick up and complete an "Underage Application Packet" at the New Student Welcome Center and return by the quarterly priority deadline.
  3. Complete all steps noted in the Underage Admission Packet by the designated quarterly deadline (see steps below).
  4. Present photo ID and take COMPASS test. Students must demonstrate academic preparedness for college-level work. To qualify for Underage Admission, students must place into English 101 (reading and writing).
  5. Submit all required documents in order to receive application review. (See Underage Admission Packet for the list of documents required for application review.)
  6. At the time students submit their Underage Admission Packet to the New Student Welcome Center, they must schedule a meeting with an Academic Advisor to review completed application materials. After review, the student’s completed packet and the Academic Advisor’s recommendations will be forwarded to the Associate Dean for Admissions & Retention. The Associate Dean will make the final determination.
  7. Students approved for admission will be notified and required to schedule and meet with an Academic Advisor to plan a schedule and register for classes.
  8. Admitted students are required and responsible for making an appointment to plan a schedule and register for classes with an Academic Advisor each quarter. Note: For the Community Education policy on underage students, refer to Administrative Procedure 2:3.10.01.
