Running Start | International Students | Underage Students | GED | Adult High School Completion
Running Start
Eligible high school juniors and seniors enrolled in a public school or district home school network may enroll in Cascadia's college-level courses and receive both high school and college credit, tuition-free.
To apply for the Running Start program, follow these steps:

Apply for admission to Cascadia Community
College.

Present photo ID to the Main Counter in Kodiak Corner and take the COMPASS test (a testing fee applies). Students must demonstrate academic preparedness for college-level work. To qualify for the Running Start Program, students must place into English 101
in both reading and writing.

If eligible on the basis of the COMPASS test, submit COMPASS test scores and Running Start packet to the Student Advising and Support Services office by the deadline (see
Running Start website or pick up application packet for complete details).

After turning in all required documentation, students must sign up for a New Running Start Orientation.

Prior to orientation, students are to review the quarterly schedule of classes and discuss choices with the high school counselor. Students must have their Quarterly Release Form with all required signatures and photo ID at time of orientation.

Returning Running Start Students
Returning Running Start students are required to attend a mandatory small group session each quarter. The Quarterly Release Form, with all required signatures, must be turned in at this session in order to be allowed to register for classes. Failure to turn in the Quarterly Release Form could result in not getting registered for classes. Check the Running Start section to learn about this quarter's registration dates.

Underage Students
Cascadia Community College offers Non-Running
Start, underage students (16-17 years old) the opportunity to enroll under
exceptional circumstances. Students are able to enroll in only one
5-credit course their first quarter. An evaluation will be done after the
initial quarter of enrollment as to the student's capability to be successful
and possibly enroll in additional credits. In the event students qualify for
Underage Admissions, there is no class guarantee. It is possible the requested
class may be at full capacity or be canceled by the college. To qualify for
Underage Admissions, students must complete each of the steps noted in the
Underage Admissions section.

GED
GED test preparation courses are available to students. General Education Development (GED) courses are intended to prepare students without a high school diploma to pass the high school equivalency examination.

Adult High School Completion
Cascadia's
Adult High School Completion Program
enables adults (18 or older) to complete credit-bearing coursework for a high
school diploma. Reduced registration fees are available only to those students
who are 19 years of age or older who are taking courses applicable towards their
high school completion and earning their diploma from Cascadia Community
College. Students must earn a 2.0 grade or higher in courses at Cascadia that
are applicable to their completion of credits. Academic Advisors can assist in
selecting the appropriate classes. Students must pick up a High School
Completion Packet at the Main Counter in Kodiak Corner. All steps
and requirements noted in the High School Completion Packet must be completed
and submitted before the designated quarterly deadline. Please contact the Main

Application Deadline for Fall Quarter 2008: Friday, September 12, 2008 by 5pm
Students must follow the required steps noted in the
Adult High School
Completion Section. Students must go to the Main Counter in
Kodiak Corner, before the application deadline to schedule
their advising appointment and submit a signed Adult High School Completion
Agreement Form.
