Institutional Effectiveness

The IE office's mission is to promote our students’ learning and Cascadia’s effectiveness by generating and analyzing relevant information that supports college-wide, evidence-based planning and decision-making. The Office for Institutional Effectiveness is also responsible for monitoring adherence to planning timelines and gathering input from the campus and community constituents on the College Planning Calendar and all of the components of the Strategic Plan.

Assessment

Cascadia’s ongoing Assessment Plan is used for all facets of strategic planning and institutional review. Over 20 methods of data review and assessment are used to evaluate college operations for effectiveness.

These evaluations include input from multiple constituencies comprised of employees, students, the local community, neighboring educational institutions, and the board of trustees; they also include internal and external data (both qualitative and quantitative) from IE, state and federal sources.

The annual Strategic Plan Update Report is published each winter and compiles data from many of the above sources as well as external demographic and employment trends. The report is published winter quarter for winter/spring planning. All areas of the campus are encouraged to review the report to help inform decisions and improvements.
