Board of Trustees

The Cascadia Community College board of trustees is an agency of the State of Washington and derives its authority as described in Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Chapter 28B. 
 

Dr. Julie Miller, Chair

Dr. Miller was appointed to the board in December 2009.  She is the Founder and CEO of Business Writing that Counts!, in Woodinville  Dr. Miller received an Ed.D. from Seattle University and her M.A. from the University of Southern California.  In addition Dr. Miller serves on the board of governors at USC, is an advisor for Junior League of Seattle and Women Business Owners, sits on the board of Friends of the Orphans, and belongs to the Seattle Rotary.

 

Roy Wilkinson, Vice Chair

Mr. Wilkinson was appointed to the board in November 2004 and reappointed in September 2008. He is a Boeing machinist union member, an Eagle, and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Wilkinson has worked for Boeing since 1977. Before that, he served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. Over the past 25 years, he has served as an active member of the International Association of Machinists District 751-E. Currently legislative chair of his local, he has also served as a trustee and vice president, and he is a delegate to the King County and Washington State Labor Councils.

   

Kirstin Haugen

Ms. Haugen was appointed to the board in January 2007 and reappointed in November 2010.  She previously was Account Executive at Mercury and Chief of Staff to King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson.  Ms. Haugen received a B.A. in English from the University of Washington.  In addition, Ms. Haugen is a board member for 4Culture and the Cascadia Community College Foundation.  She formerly served as a board member for the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation and the King County Charter Review Commission.

 

    

Jean Magladry

Ms. Magladry was appointed to the board in December 2003 and reappointed in November 2007.  Ms. Magladry is an attorney at law at MW Injury Resolutions. She received her P.S. J.D. from Gonzaga Law School and a B.A. in history from the University of Maryland. She formerly served on the Washington State Trial Lawyers board of directors, as co-chair of Women of WSTLA (WOW). She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, and the Oregon State Bar Association.

 

Louis Mendoza

Mr. Mendoza was appointed to the board in January 2011. Mr. Mendoza is the Volunteer Initiatives Manager for United Way of King County in Seattle. He is a member of the Excellence Committee at Kindering Center, member of the Latino Community Fund and Leadership Eastside. He formerly served as a Board Member on the Northshore Public Education Foundation. He received a B.A. in psychology from California State University, Long Beach.
