Strategic Directions for 2006-2011

Consistent with our vision, mission, and the college’s core values, Cascadia has established four strategic directions to guide operations from year to year.

Foster a global perspective and a commitment to the value of diversity

This will be accomplished by:

  • Increasing the proportion of students, faculty, and staff with global perspectives and diverse backgrounds
  • Providing opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to enhance their knowledge of global issues
  • Sponsoring activities for the college and the community that focus on global perspectives and diversity
  • Integrating global perspectives across the curriculum

Provide accessible, affordable, and innovative educational opportunities

This will be accomplished by:

  • Expanding partnerships with area high schools, colleges and universities, and businesses
  • Increasing alternative modes of delivery including class times, locations, and the use of technology

Support the cultural and economic needs of our community

This will be accomplished by:

  • Evaluating and expanding the comprehensiveness of our program offerings in line with community needs
  • Developing opportunities in the arts, global perspectives, and the environment that engage the community
  • Partnering with employers to increase the number of skilled employees in the areas of greatest unmet need

Promote an inclusive, collaborative, and learning-centered work environment

This will be accomplished by:

  • Implementing a clear, inclusive, and transparent governance and planning model for the college community
  • Implementing effective methods of communication to inform and provide opportunities for feedback on campus issues
  • Providing opportunities for orientation, training, and professional development to meet the needs of individual employees and the college as a learner-centered environment
