International Students: How to Apply

Application Deadlines

We recommend that you apply by the dates below to ensure that you have enough time to obtain a visa, travel to Cascadia, and get settled before the quarter begins.

1. Get the application form for international students.

2. Complete the Statement of Financial Responsibility.

The form instructs you to attach copies of bank statements or other financial documents which show that you, your family, or other sponsor can cover tuition and costs

 

3 (optional). Show that you qualify to take college level classes at Cascadia.

To show that you qualify to take college level (academic) classes during your first quarter at Cascadia, either: 

 

  • Provide your score for the the TOEFL or IELTS test OR
  • If you have attended an accredited U.S. college or university, provide transcripts (copies are OK) which show that you have completed English 101

However, this step is not mandatory. If you do not provide transcripts or passing test scores, we will enroll you in the English for International Students program when you arrive at Cascadia.
 

To pass the TOEFL This link opens a page on a different website test, you must receive a score of at least 70 (iBT) / 195 (cbt) / 525 (paper). To pass the IELTS This link opens a page on a different website test, you must receive a score of at least 6.0. 
 

4. Submit your application to the International Programs office.

Include:

 

  • All the forms and documents requested on the application
  • The application fee of $50 (in U.S. dollars); Cascadia accepts payment by Visa or MasterCard, check, or money order
     
5 (If you are currently attending another U.S. college). Apply for transfer. 

If you are transferring to Cascadia from another school in the U.S., you must apply for transfer, or you will be out of status. To transfer, complete the Transfer Form. [PDF]
 

No more than 5 days after the first day of classes, bring your current I-20, the I-20s from any previous schools, and your passport to the Cascadia International Programs office. We will then process your transfer.
 

To request transfer of credits you earned at another U.S. college, go to the Kodiak Corner/Student Services Center and ask for a Transcript Evaluation Request form. Fill out the form and bring it to the Kodiak Corner. 
 

6. Wait for Cascadia to respond to your application. 

If your application to Cascadia is accepted, Cascadia will send you an acceptance letter with an I-20 immigration document and information about what to do next.
 

You will need the I-20 when you apply for a student visa. For details, see Before You Arrive in the United States
 

7 (If you have attended college outside the United States). Apply for transfer credit. 

To receive credit for courses that you earned at a college outside the United States, you must have your non-U.S. academic credentials professionally evaluated and then submit the evaluation to Cascadia. We recommend (but do not require) that you use one of the following companies to evaluate your documents:
