Program Descriptions:

Getting Started

There are 7 easy steps to getting started at Cascadia Community College.  This session will review the process from completing an application to attending classes.  Gain some important tips about being a successful student and learn how Cascadia is committed to helping students achieve their goals by sharing what resources are available to them.

Choosing a Career

Love your major but don't know how it will translate into a career?  Or perhaps you're thinking about changing careers and don't know where to start?  John House, Career Coach, brings over twelve years experience working with individuals and groups on the latest in self assessment, career search and personal marketing techniques. A recognized trainer and career consultant, Mr. House will outline the building blocks of successful career development coupled with practical strategies to achieve your career goals. This is a two part session.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

It’s not too late!  Come learn what types of financial assistance Cascadia offers students and how to apply.  We will explore “free” money versus loans, work-study and other employment options, and Cascadia and other scholarship application processes. 

Professional Technical Programs/Business and Information Technology

– A Great Career Opportunity!  What can you expect in your career and education if your focus is information technology?  Explore career opportunities from the modern office to database management, networking, web, digital animation and programming.

On Line Learning – When is it for me?

Tired of traffic?  Identify if you are ready to take a course or degree from the comfort of your home or office.  This is a hands-on work shop.

Worker Retraining

If you are laid off and currently receiving Unemployment Benefits, have received Unemployment Benefits within the past two years or are a displaced homemaker, you may be eligible for Cascadia’s Worker Retraining Program.  We can assist students in professional-technical and job training programs obtain the skills necessary for re-employment by providing financial aid and other services.  Come to this session to hear more about the program and how it can help change your life!

This is a two part session.

Community Education

Cascadia provides non-credit courses through the Community Education Program.  These classes provide for personal enrichment, professional development and fun! Registration for Community Education classes is simple and does not require transcripts or prior college experience. Registration for classes is ongoing as classes have continuous start dates throughout the quarter. 

Meet the Faculty

Meet members of Cascadia’s excellent faculty.  Faculty members from different disciplines will share their wisdom about teaching and learning, offer insight into the college-wide learning outcomes and provide tips for success. 

Study Abroad

Are you interested in studying abroad for a quarter?  Cascadia offers programs each quarter as part of the Washington Community College Consortium for Study Abroad.  Earn transferable Cascadia credits while studying in exciting places around the world!  Come learn about our programs to England, Italy, Costa Rica, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, and France.

Get a "Running Start"

The Running Start program is an opportunity for high school students to get a jump start on their future - tuition free!  Meet the Running Start staff and learn about how Running Start works at Cascadia, including eligibility requirements and deadlines.

Refreshments

Enjoy refreshments throughout the day at the vista on the 2nd floor.  Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the college president and other members of the administrative team. 

Campus Tours

Don’t miss an opportunity to experience the beauty of our campus.  Tours will include classroom facilities, labs, library, and wetlands.
