Options in the Green Economy

Learn, then earn: Green Economy

Cascadia’s environmental technologies and sustainable practices programs prepare you to enter the green economy or to transfer to a four-year college or university and pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Demand for Green Economy Skills

We plan our selection of programs to provide training in the skills that local employers tell us they need. According to projections for 2014, jobs for mid-level skilled workers in installation, maintenance, and repair alone will be greater in numbers by over 35% than the number of people qualified to fill them.

Careers in the Green Economy

All kinds of employers need people with the sustainability skills you learn in Cascadia’s environmental technologies and sustainable practices programs. You can help create a more energy efficient future in careers that let you:

  • Use your creative abilities
  • Solve problems
  • Build for the future

As in most professions, green economy job titles vary from company to company, industry to industry, and over time. Before you apply for a job, read each employer’s job description carefully to see if your skills match the skills required for the position.

In the green economy new job titles are being created continuously. It’s common to start in an entry level job regardless of your previous education level. To obtain a mid-level to senior position, you will most likely need a few years of related job experience.
