Waivers

Waivers are granted only for academic degree, professional technical degree, certificate, and adult basic education programs (all state-supported classes). No waivers are granted for Continuing Education classes.

On this page:

Adult Basic Education Waiver

If you are enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE), you may qualify to have your tuition and other fees waived through a federal or grant-funded waiver program.

ABE programs include ESL, GED test preparation, and English and math fundamentals.

The waiver amount depends on your needs. It can cover the ABE tuition of $25 per quarter, and it may also cover other expenses such as campus parking permits or bus passes.

To apply for an ABE waiver:

We will help you fill out an application and interview you about your needs.

High School Completion Waiver

If you are enrolled in the high school completion program, you may apply for reduced college tuition through a state waiver program. If you receive a waiver, you may not also be eligible for other kinds of financial aid

If you are at least 19 years old on the first day of the quarter AND you have been a Washington state resident for at least one year: For each course required for the high school completion program, you pay $11 per credit plus fees. For all other courses, you pay full resident tuition.

You must show a current Washington state driver’s license or state ID.

If you are at least 19 years old on the first day of the quarter but you have NOT been a Washington state resident for at least one year: For each course required for the high school completion program, Cascadia waives the nonresident portion of tuition, and you pay only resident tuition (plus fees). For all other courses, you pay full nonresident tuition.

You must show a current driver’s license or state ID from another state, or a permanent U.S. resident card.
