This Certificate Prepares You For...

The solar PV system specialist certificate prepares you to serve the growing industry need for solar photovoltaic (PV) system specialists. As energy costs continue to go up and solar technology becomes increasingly efficient and more affordable, the commercial and residential demands for professionals trained in design, installation, and maintenance of solar PV systems is growing rapidly.

 

You will gain the knowledge and skills required to specify, configure, inspect, and maintain solar electric systems that meet the performance and reliability needs of customers, incorporate high-quality craftsmanship, and comply with all applicable safety codes and standards.

 

Certificate Requirements

Complete one of the following 6 courses:

 

MATH& 107 Math in Society 5 credits 
MATH& 141 Precalculus I 5 credits
MATH& 146 Introduction to Statistics 5 credits
MATH 147 Finite Math 5 credits
OFTEC 100 Business Math 5 credits
PHIL& 106 Introduction to Logic 5 credits

 

Complete one of the following 2 courses:

 

ENGL& 101 English Composition I 5 credits 
ENGL& 101T English Composition for Technical Writers 5 credits

 

Complete all of the following courses:

 

PHYS 111 The Physics of Energy 5 credits 
ETSP 102 Power Generation and Conventional Energy Systems 5 credits
ETSP 120 Solar Energy Systems 5 credits
ETSP 150 OSHA/WSHA for Electronic Trades 2 credits
ETSP 160 Mechanic Lab 3 credits
ETSP 161 Blueprint Reading 1 credit
ETSP 180 AC/DC Lab 3 credits
ETSP 206 Solar PV System Design and Site Assessment 5 credits
ETSP 208 Solar PV Installation and Testing 5 credits
ETSP 210 Solar PV System Maintenance and Troubleshooting 3 credits

 

Complete one of the following 2 courses:

 

ETSP 190 Documenting and Reporting Energy Use 3 credits 
ETSP 203 Energy System Analysis and Auditing 5 credits

 

Complete one of the following 2 courses:

 

ETSP 197 Work-Based Learning I 1-5 credits
