High school you graduated from (and city):

 North Pointe Preparatory; Phoenix, Arizona

 What are you studying?

I'm currently following the Pre-Nursing track in hopes of, one day, getting involved with nutrition.  I love all the different aspects of nutrition and how food affects your body.

Why did you choose to attend Cascadia?

A few months after graduating high school, I moved up to Washington from Arizona and the  only  place still accepting enrollment was Cascadia. So, naturally, I chose the school that  allowed me  to continue my education in the fall.

  What are you hobbies/interests?

I LOVE crafting, cat loving, reading, working out, organizing, and learning new things.

What are your plans after Cascadia?

I plan to transfer somewhere else to further my education. As to where, I have not figured that out yet. I have high aspirations of earning a masters or  doctorate degree somewhere in nutrition.

Why should students get involved in Cascadia Student Life?

We have free stuff!!  Just kidding... You want to make the most of the things you do in life, right? That includes college -- even if it's only a two year    institution. So fully enjoy the amenities -- the Activities & Recreation Center, Masquerade Ball, movie nights, Condoms & Cupcakes, mask making,  dances, etc. --  that are at your disposal. You'll be so glad you did.

High school you graduated from (and city):

Glacier Peak High School, Snohomish

What are you studying?

I am studying Pre-Nursing

Why did you choose to attend Cascadia?

Personally,I chose Cascadia because of its reputation among other community colleges, and for the convenience of the location.

What are your hobbies and interests?

In my spare time I like to read books, some of my favorites include Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Hunger Games Series. I am a huge fan of Disney so I can be seen watching Beauty and the Beast quite often! Finally, on a nice rainy day I love going for a run.

What are you plans after Cascadia and how is Cascadia helping you reach your goals?

My goals after Cascadia include getting my BSN in nursing and becoming an ER nurse. Eventually I would love to travel around the world as a traveling nurse and then settle down at Harbor View Hospital. Cascadia College’s staff and my experience so far in Student Life have pushed me to constantly improve, and learn to grow from my mistakes. No one here wants to watch you fail, and no matter how many times you fall down you’ll never fail if you keep trying again.

Why should students get involved in Cascadia Student Life?

Students should get involved with Student Life because no one succeeds without a little push. Students are neglecting the power of their voice here at Cascadia, and we cannot do this alone. Together we are stronger then us standing alone, and I want to stand with all of the Cascadia body.

High School you graduated from (and city)

Wuhan High School (China)

What are you studying?

Associate with Science (In future: Biology or Chemistry)

Why did you choose to attend Cascadia?

When I was back in China, the high school education is only about “academic study”. The school life is stressful and rigid. I was looking for something new and different, something that can really benefit students after they graduate and skills that are necessary for the future in the work place and everyday life. I made a last minute call to study abroad and Cascadia is the perfect school because it has a late register dead-line and open learning environment.

What are your hobbies/interests?

The classes can really be stressful sometimes. I love to do anything that can help me relax. Ex: Movies, TV shows, shopping, sports, gym, go to restaurants with my friends.

What are your plans after Cascadia?

Finish my degree at University of Washington and study at School of Pharmacy. Cascadia is helping me figure out what I want to study, it also offers me so many opportunities outside of class that help me to get to know other people. This student government job is helping me improve my leadership skills which will be important in the future.

Why should students get involved in Cascadia Student Life?

Academic learning is not and should never be a student’s only important thing at school. Whether you are trying to transfer to a four year college or find a job, having only a good GPA is never going to be enough. By getting involved in Student Life, students will experience a more comprehensive student life while meeting new friends, learning new culture, improving new skills, gaining new energy and having fun at same time!

High School you graduated from (and City):

Poolville High School(Springtown, TX)

What are you studying?

Associate Degree-Integrated Studies and Associate Degree- Science Track. Ideally getting my bachelor's degree in International Studies and Economics.

Why did you choose to attend Cascadia?

Easy to transfer to four-year universities and affordable tuition for general requirements.

What are your Hobbies/Interests?

Learning different languages, meeting new people, traveling, gym, dancing.

What are your plans after Cascadia?

I plan on transferring to a four year university. Cascadia helps me on starting my college education in smaller classrooms and a more relaxed manner which prepares me for a four university.

Why should students get involved in Cascadia Student Life?

I think it is an important stage for every person to have a college experience, exclude the education portion, the fun times in colleges are important as well. So I think getting involved definitely helps students to get to know more people and develops their social skills and interpersonal skills which prepares them for later on in life.

High school you graduated from (and city):

I am a part of the running start program, and my base school is Bothell High School.

What are you studying?

I am studying Business here at Cascadia, and I am in the process of achieving my Associate in Business degree. I hope to transfer to a business school later on and complete a Bachelors of Business Administration. I would also like to study Business Law after completing my Masters.

Why did you choose to attend Cascadia?

I chose to attend Cascadia because I already knew I wanted to study business, so the smartest decision for me was to enroll in the running start program at Cascadia and finish my Associates before I graduate from Bothell High School.

What are your hobbies and interests?: I am the President of the DECA chapter at Bothell High School, so DECA has become a huge part of my life. I love the people I have met and the experiences I have had through this amazing organization. I have also gained a really important mentor through this program as well. I also love being active. I played competitive softball for 10 years, but now I enjoy working out in the gym as well as going on hikes with family and friends.

What are you plans after Cascadia and how is Cascadia helping you reach your goals?

After Cascadia, I plan on transferring to a university within Washington. I have not decided which school I want to go to yet, but Cascadia has helped me narrow down my choices through the universities that have visited our campus. I want to go to a school that has a strong study abroad program because studying in France has always been a dream of mine. Cascadia has furthered my process of achieving that goal by reassuring myself that this is something I want to do and can do. There are so many international students here at Cascadia who have gotten involved in the community here, and that has shown me that this goal is achievable for me.

Why should students get involved in Cascadia Student Life?

Last year, I was not very involved in the school, and I didn't feel like I was a part of this community since I only came to school for class and that was the extent of my time here. I was not satisfied with this experience, so I decided to get more involved at Cascadia. In my first couple weeks of working with Cascadia Student Government, I have felt like I am a much bigger part of this community. The students and faculty here are so supportive, and they have your best interests at heart. The activities that Student Life hosts are created for the students by the students, and that is really exciting to me. Becoming a part of Student Life here at Cascadia has enhanced my education and experience here way more than I ever thought it could, and I can only hope for the same for every other student.
