The principles contained in the in Cascadia's vision, mission and core values clearly establish the core value of learning.  Since all members of our community are learners we strive to "make learning relevant and connected".  This core value of learning motivates the recruitment process, employee development programs and performance assessment.  A college that focuses on "producing learning" must have systems that support this goal, thereby appearing as if they are "outside the box".
