Learning-centered Interviewing ProcessCascadia Community College continually strives to be a learning organization. Members of learning organizations are committed to expanding their own capacity to hold and seek a common vision, to reflect and inquire, to build collective capacity, and to understand organizational systems. Great teams are what realize learning organizations - groups of people who collectively enhance their capacity to create what they truly desire to create. The philosophy is reflected in Cascadia's hiring processes which honor the principles of collaboration, teamwork and consensus. Handouts are provided and briefings are conducted that remind committee members of the learning centered interviewing process. Individual and executive committee interviews focus on learning; all hiring committees include cross-functional members including faculty, staff and administrators; faculty interviews include teaching demonstrations that focus on learning style not content and interviewing questions that assess knowledge of alternative pedagogies, technology, student centered learning, and outcomes based interdisciplinary curriculum.
