COVID-19 Face Covering Policy
Cascadia College’s COVID-19 Face Covering Policy is in accordance with the guidelines and directives established by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) for workplace health and safety requirements, and the Washington state Proclamation for Higher Education for college and university requirements.
Policy
Beginning March 28, 2022, face coverings are no longer required but are highly recommended for all employees, students, and visitors. Any employee, student, or visitor who is not vaccinated is required to wear masks at all times in Cascadia buildings except for in private offices with closed doors.
- If you are in an individual office, leadership expects you to wear your mask if asked to do so by the occupant of the office or the guest to the office. If that doesn’t work for one party or the other, please find an alternate way to help that guest, e.g., through zoom or with a colleague.
- We support you wearing a mask in shared spaces, e.g., classrooms, Kodiak Corner, student lounges. However, compliance is optional unless an individual is unvaccinated.
- If you have an ADA accommodation where masking is a reasonable accommodation, employees should work with HR and students should work with Disability Services to determine those accommodations. Some shared spaces may be turned into “mandatory mask zones” if required by any such accommodations and if no other avenue is possible.
- Eating and drinking is not permitted in classrooms. Individuals may eat in public spaces and/or designated eating areas. Please clean up after yourselves using cleaning kits provided in each area.
If employees or students fail to comply with elements in this policy, they may face disciplinary action.
Accommodations
Cascadia will work with individuals to explore reasonable accommodations. Employees must contact Human Resources at humanresourcesandpayroll@cascadia.edu. Students should contact Student Accessibility Services at accessibility@cascadia.edu.
About Face Coverings
This policy permits any type of mask or face covering as outlined by the CDC. The college expects that you will clean and maintain the face covering properly. Cascadia will continue to provide disposable procedural masks and hand-sanitizing stations at entrances.
