Laura Eyler
English Language Program
Laura received a BA in French with an undeclared minor in English from Bradley University
in Peoria, IL. She spent a year at the Sorbonne in Paris, France to learn the language.
In 1992, Laura entered the Applied Linguistic program at Southern Illinois University and
in 1994, received a MA in Applied Linguistics with a minor in TESL. Her thesis focused
on fossilization in a non-contrastive error analysis of native speakers of Arabic
in an English language program. She taught abroad from 1994-1999 in Mexico, Poland,
and Saipan, MP. Altogether, Laura has just over 20 years experience teaching ESL,
English as a foreign language, and English Composition. Her work-related interests
are in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, reading acquisition, curriculum development, and
Quality Matters.
