Kids' Books in Español

In true Cascadia fashion, students enrolled in second year Spanish learn a whole lot more than cómo hablar y escribir en español. They are asked to think creatively, interact in new environments, and give back to the community. As a final class project, Cascadia faculty member, Dianne Fruit, required each student to write and illustrate his or her own Spanish language children’s book. Once the books were completed, Cascadia students went to nearby Woodin Elementary, a dual-language enrollment school, to read their books to a class of first-graders. Roles were then reversed with the elementary kids reading their Spanish books to the college students.
