Disability Accommodation

If you think that you might need reasonable accommodations for a disability while you are abroad, it is important that you disclose this early in your application process. We can work to accommodate any type of physical, sensory, intellectual, mental health, emotional, or developmental disability.

Resources for students with disabilities:

  • Cascadia Study Abroad Coordinator
  • Cascadia Disability Support Services
  • Mobility International USA (MIUSA) – this is an organization that works to improve the access of people with disabilities to study abroad (http://www.miusa.org/)

For Faculty

The International Programs Office is committed to helping Cascadia faculty teach abroad. Full-time faculty are encouraged to apply to teach abroad on a WCCCSA program.

  • WCCCSA programs: Each quarter-long WCCCSA program has an instructor from a Washington state community college teach two 5 credit courses. We look for enthusiastic and creative faculty who can adapt their courses to a specific overseas environment
    • Details: Typically WCCCSA covers lodging, local transportation, insurance, and a roundtrip airfare stipend.  You must be a full-time faculty at Cascadia to apply. All faculty applicants must be approved by their home institution. Please note programs run based on minimum enrollment numbers and are not guaranteed to run until after application deadline.
    • Faculty applicants are evaluated on the following criteria:
      1. Relevance of the proposed course to its respective environment
      2. Applicability of proposed courses to general education distribution requirements
      3. Record of college-level teaching excellence with proposed or similar courses
      4. Previous international education experience and student service experiences
      5. Record of collegial cooperation and interdisciplinary instruction
    • Contact Cascadia’s Study Abroad Coordinator for information about upcoming programs and application deadlines.
