E&I Council

The Council's overall charge is to help shape college policy with respect to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). The group’s strengths are analyzing different EDI related issues, both internally and externally, that affect Cascadia and providing creative solutions, feedback, and guidance in addressing those issues

 

Mission

The purpose of the E&I Council is to serve as an advisory group for the Office of Equity and Inclusion. The Council also helps to move campus equity and inclusion efforts forward, uphold and model the values of equity and inclusion, continuously deepen personal analysis of issues and concepts pertaining to racial justice and equity, and discuss supports and solutions as issues and concerns arise. Membership

Members are selected based on having deep personal analysis and/or direct experience of issues and concepts pertaining to racial justice and equity, interest in moving E&I efforts forward, and the ability to complete the tasks listed as part of workload.

  • Tasha Walston - Full-Time Faculty
  • Dr. Victor Begay – Full-Time Faculty
  • David Ortiz – Full-Time Faculty
  • Linda Richard – Full-Time Faculty
  • Emily Dvorak – Associate Faculty
  • Ana Benitez - Administrative Assistant 3 – Student Learning
  • Nia Lam - UWB and Cascadia Campus Library

 

Constituent membership (faculty, classified, exempt, and UW Libraries) will be based on application via a statement of interest. The Vice President of Equity and Inclusion will make the final determination with input from the E&I Council.
