Earth Sciences, Sustainability and Environmental Studies

Pathways in the Earth Sciences, Sustainability and Environmental Studies Area of Interest provide you with a foundation for several interdisciplinary careers, including Marine Biology, Geology, public works, environmental safety, water resource quality and management, non-profit agency work, public policy, and lobbying. You will deepen your understanding of the interrelationship of humans and their environment, especially earth systems; ecosystems; specifics of earth, water, and air processes; and environmental cycles. You will gain skills in biological and chemical analysis, data collection and analysis, field research methods, and collaborative investigations and reporting, critical to success in an Earth Sciences, Sustainability and Environmental Studies Area career.

Earth Sciences, Sustainability and Environmental Studies Pathway

Environmental Science

In Cascadia Colleges Environmental Science pathway, you will look at Earth's natural systems and cycles. Students will gain knowledge in environmental issues, conservation, and applying critical global perspectives to specific natural environments.

Environmental Studies

In Cascadia College's Environmental Studies pathway, you will combine the knowledge, tools, and perspectives from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to formulate innovative solutions to environmental issues in Washington and around the world. Students learn from and listen to different scientific, cultural, and political perspectives.

Geology

In Cascadia College's Geology pathway, you will study the earth, the materials of which it is made, the structure of those materials, and the processes acting upon them. Geologists may work in interdisciplinary and collaborative settings on diverse issues such as climate change, natural disasters, mining, and water security. A strong foundation in Math, Chemistry, and Physics is required for admission into an Earth and Space Sciences Bachelor of Science degree.

Sustainable Practices - Bachelor of Applied Science

In Cascadia College’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Practices (BASSP) pathway, you will earn the skills necessary to plan and implement sustainability approaches to how we live and work by managing complex projects for government agencies, private and non-profit organizations, environmental water, energy, and agriculture industries, construction management firms, and educational institutions.
