Khai discovered his love of dinosaurs at the age of four. It was the year that Jurassic Park came out, which was convenient timing. He was probably too young to see it, but it irreversibly changed him. Unlike many kids, he never outgrew his dream of becoming a paleontologist. Still, he doubted a career in paleontology was feasible. Once in college, he pursued biology with aspirations of becoming a doctor or biomedical researcher, until a lecture by a visiting paleontologist opened his eyes to the field as a viable career and inspired him to shift his focus and set him on a new path. Graduate school in North Carolina afforded him the opportunity to complete many lifelong goals, including becoming a published author and participating in fieldwork. Most importantly, he discovered a deep passion and talent for teaching and educating others. After completing his Ph.D., Khai returned to his home and family in the Pacific Northwest where he continues to share his enthusiasm for science and love for the study of life.
